AP Colored Stones

Who is Adam Pollack?

Picture
It was while exploring the markets of Taiwan and Hong Kong that my appreciation for colored stones began to blossom.
Originally from Ithaca, NY, I’ve always appreciated natural beauty and spent my childhood exploring the local gorges and collecting fascinating rocks and fossils.  I studied at SUNY Buffalo and majored in Communication while trying to stay warm. After graduation, the appeal of warmer weather and a thirst for adventure led me to move and work on a kibbutz in southern Israel for a year. I then decided a change of scenery would be good for me and I accepted a teaching job in Seoul, South Korea. While in Seoul, I learned to read Korean and became fully immersed in Korean culture. After Korea, my travels led me to Taipei, Taiwan to teach for a year and explore the open-air jade and pearl markets before finally settling back in the States in Philadelphia.

My interest in colored stones stems from my unquenchable thirst for knowledge and discovery of all things new and beautiful. Throughout my life, I’ve been inspired by travel and adventure.  As a child, I remember being captivated by stories of exotic lands, mythology, and treasure.   My fascination with gemology and colored stones has allowed me the opportunity to revisit these stories, places, and ideas again and again. With my goal in place of sharing my knowledge and passion for gems with the world, it is everything I am learning along the way that I find most fascinating.  I am eager to share my depth of knowledge and experience with you.
