Creamsicle
From the time I was a child until this present day, creamsicles have always been one of my favorite frozen treats. You just can’t beat the delicious mixture of orange and vanilla! When I came across Michael Rizzo’s “Creamsicle” fire opal, I knew this was a stone that had to grace the pages of the AP Colored Stones gallery.
A unique bi-color gem, Michael cut this Mexican Fire Opal with the orange color zone oriented at the tip of the pavilion giving this stone a decidedly orange-vanilla “creamsicle” look when looking down at it face-up. This opal weighs an impressive 10.3 ct and has excellent clarity with a few tiny flecks of orange on the top of the stone adding a little zest to the overall creamy color. Michael designed this stone with a standard faceted pavilion while using a free rotation technique on the crown with a table.
This fire opal would be an excellent choice for the discerning customer who wants to add a sweet treat to his or her gem collection! It would also look fantastic set into a ring or pendant!
