“If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, Infinite.”
-Aldous Huxley, “The Doors of Perception”
Perhaps it is Mark’s title of this gemstone, “New World,” or simply the incredible nature of the stone’s cut that brings the aforementioned Aldous Huxley quote to mind. One of Mark’s trademark Galaxy Gems, this incredible composite features an old-stock, Australian Mintabie Opal recessed into faceted Optical Quartz, weighing a total of 14.9 carats. Once the opal has been attached to the host stone, they are both polished and faceted as a single stone together to create the final masterpiece. The flawless optical quartz, acting as both a magnifying glass as well as a kaleidoscope, allows the fire and play of color in the opal (which is adhered to the bottom of the pavilion) to really explode and bounce around throughout the interior of the stone! This astounding gem would appeal to anybody seeking something extraordinary.
Stone: Optic Quartz and Mintabie Opal
